A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
