Nearly 25,000 Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
At the same time, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its wettest day in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received 598 calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on yesterday, more than 28k power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity expected across different parts of both regions.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the area.
