Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
