Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
