The UK is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of seized Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the United States.

UK penalties have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had solely been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their goal to advance efforts toward using the total worth of the immobilized Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He noted that more restrictions over the next period would apply more pressure on Russia.

This statement follows European Union leaders convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss utilizing immobilized Russian funds for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or employ frozen Russia's holdings, based on reports.

The total of immobilized Russia's holdings in the Europe is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

President Zelensky urges Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL program

Moscow carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes all over the Ukrainian territory on that day, resulting in electricity outages in large parts of Kyiv, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were killed and at least 20 people were hurt in the strike, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a message on an online platform after the attack, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not mere statements but firm measures - from the US, EU, and the Group of Seven - in delivering defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he wrote.

"Every sanction decision undermines Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which Nato countries purchase military equipment from the US to provide to Ukraine.

While commending the UK's firm backing for Ukraine, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the system, as well as enforce additional measures on Russia.
